The Giant Slayer

A Short Story About Skipping Stones

Much like a woman in a Victorian romance novel, I have come to the Scarborough coast for a week to take in the sea air. But I’m taking a brief break from my self-imposed exile to let you know that I’ve had a new short story published in the most recent issue of Twisted Ink — a brilliant online literary magazine based in Sheffield.

The story is called The Giant Slayer, and it’s about a man standing on a beach, contemplating his own uselessness.

“Write what you know,” as the old saying goes.

I was inspired to write it a few months back, when I saw a man in Endcliffe Park skimming stones across the lake with what can only be described as unbridled fury.

Here’s to you, angry stone skimmer. I hope it was cathartic for you.
